Things Were Never the Same Again
After that day we finally spoke again… things got better.
At least, that’s what I thought.
We started talking again in class.
Small conversations at first.
Simple things like, “Did you do the assignment? or “What did the teacher say?
It wasn’t like before… but it was something.
And honestly, I was happy.
I told myself, At least we’re back.
But as days went by, I started noticing something I didn’t want to accept.
It wasn’t the same anymore.
The laughter wasn’t as free.
The conversations felt a bit forced sometimes.
There were moments of silence that didn’t use to exist before.
And the worst part?
We both noticed it… but we didn’t talk about it.
It’s strange how two people can fix a problem… but still not go back to how things used to be.
One day, we were sitting together again, and someone made a joke in class.
Before, we would have looked at each other instantly and laughed like we always did.
But this time…
We both laughed, but separately.
That moment hit me harder than the fight itself.
Because I realized something:
Not everything you fix returns to its original form.
Some things change… permanently.
And it’s not always because of what happened
Sometimes it’s because of what was lost during the silence.
The connection.
The comfort.
The natural flow.
I won’t lie, that realization hurt.
But it also taught me something important:
You can forgive someone…
You can reconnect…
But you can’t always rewind time.
Since then, I’ve learned to value moments more.
To speak up earlier.
To fix things before they grow too big.
Because sometimes, when you wait too long…
You might get the person back
but not the connection you once had.
